When my business partner Matt and I started a pet products retail company, we were dismayed when we discovered just how little care pet product manufacturers were actually putting into their products. There were chews made in China, foods high in grain and artificial flavors, supplements and chews made of mostly low quality chemicals and filled with sugar. And worse.

Tick and flea products were the worst of the bunch. We learned that when our kids and other family member play with our pets, they’re being exposed to toxic pesticides and other chemicals. According to a study conducted by the National Resource Defense Council, residue levels produced by many flea collars are so high that they pose a risk of cancer and damage to the neurological system of children.

I live in Los Angeles, Matt in Boulder, and both of us are passionate about natural products. We believe strongly that you should start trying to solve problems naturally, and only graduate to non-natural solutions if it’s necessary.
