Are you dreaming up a costume for your dog this Halloween? Not all dogs love being dressed up, though some do! If yours is less than keen on the idea, keep it simple. For example, if your doggo happily wears a harness, he might not mind or even notice if you attach a pair of spooky bat wings. And if you have a pooch that really wants to be part of the fun this Halloween, you can get a bit more creative! Here are some of our favourite ideas this year.
2. Spooky animals
If you want to channel the scary side of Halloween, why not transform your pooch into a bat or a spider? These costumes can work on any size of dog and might be well-tolerated, if they are attached to a harness your dog is used to wearing.
4. Film characters
Kids (and adults) love to dress as characters from their favorite films. If you have a dog which is already small, cute and fluffy, and you happen to like Star Wars, you could have a perfect candidate to be dressed as an Ewok.
5. Superheroes
Make your dog a “superdog” with a coat which looks like a cape. Or you could be the superhero and your dog can be the sidekick. If your costumes complement each other, your dog’s can be quite simple and still work well. How about Batman and Robin?
We hope we’ve given you some inspiration as you prepare for Halloween. Remember: if you dress your dog in a costume, watch him carefully for signs of stress or overheating - take the costume off if you think he’s not happy. Don’t leave your dog unattended, in case he gets tangled in a costume or chews it. And, of course, keep him away from the chocolate and candies. Keep some of his own treats with you instead. Most importantly, make sure that you and your doggo have fun!
